　　1.at the time of...

　　at the time of...意思是“在……時候”，后面常接名詞或名詞詞組。例如

　　He was very brave at the time of danger.

　　2.fall off fall off意思為“從……掉/摔下來”，off可用作介詞，后接名詞、代詞等，也可用作副詞。例如

　　Ripe apples are beginning to fall off the trees.成熟的蘋果開始從樹上落下來。

　　2.I felt the floor move.

　　feel這里用作及物動詞，意思是“感到”，后面接復合賓語，即賓語+賓語補足語。賓語補足語通常是不帶to的動詞不定式或現在分詞，結構是:feel...do/doing。例如

　　I felt my heart beating fast.我感到我的心正在快速跳動。

　　We both felt the desk shake just now.我們都感到剛才桌子搖晃了一下。

　　3.I watched all the glasses fall off.

　　這里watch用作及物動詞，意思是“觀察，觀看”，后接復合賓語，復合賓語中的賓語補足語通常是不帶to的不定式或現在分詞，意思稍有區別。watch sb./sth.do意思是“觀看某人/某事做了……”，表示看到事情發生的全部過程，而watch sb./sth.doing意思是“觀看某人/某事正在做……”，表示看到事情正在發生的情形，并不一定指看到全過程。例如

　　We watched the sun rise from the east.

　　She watched her son swimming in the swimming pool.

　　4.Carl， what does“quake” mean， as in the word“earthˉquake”?卡爾，“earthquake”里的“quake”是什么意思?as in the word“earthquake”是省略句，原句應為as it is in the word earthquake。as是連詞，意思是“如”，“像”。

　　as可以作連詞、介詞和關系代詞。現將as的用法小結如下

　　1)作連詞

　　①作“當……時候”解，引導時間狀語從句，強調兩個動作同時發生，或某事一發生，另一件事也立即發生。例如

　　They were singing as they were walking home.回家時他們邊走邊唱。

　　I startled as he opened the door.他一開門，我嚇了一跳。

　　②作“因為”解，引導原因狀語從句。例如

　　I must stop writing now，as I have a lot of homework to do.我現在必須停筆了，因為我有許多作業要做。

　　③作“如/像”解，引導方式狀語從句或比較狀語從句。

　　You should do as the teacher tells you to.你應當像老師告訴你的那樣去做。

　　The weather was not so wet as it is today.那天的天氣不像今天這么潮濕。

　　2)作介詞，作“作為”解。例如

　　He was famous as a pop singer.作為流行歌星，他很有名。
