　　一方面，參加專業以外的課程有助于他們的學習，為他們的未來做更好的準備。在現代社會人才的定義不僅僅是在一個領域有能力，還需要對各個領域有所了解。讓我舉個簡單的例子，一個英語老師仍然需要教音樂，體育或者畫畫的能力。這就是新世紀人才的要求。如果學生學習專業以外的課程，他們就可以更接近這樣的人才。這有助于他們將來找到好工作和適應社會。另一方面，學習與專業無關的新課程并不會占用他們用來學習專業課程的時間。由于時間有限，如果學生知道他們還要上別的課程，他們會充分利用自己的時間來完成專業上的任務。換句話說，有助于提高效率。
