Land Resources-土地資源

1．土地資源面臨嚴重的壓力。

2．但是土地不是提供我們食物的惟一的資源。

3．另一解決辦法就是開發新的物種。

     We are now faced with a very important problem, that is, the rapid increasing pres sure of population on land, or rather, on land resources. Most people consider it a serious problem because land resources are limited.  However, we need not to be pessimistic about it.

     Although land has long been the main source for our food supply, it is not the only one. We have vast sea areas in the world waiting to be cultivated and developed. Fish farming is playing a more and more important role in providing us with food.  In the fu ture we can sow fish and plants in the sea and harvest them.

     Another thing we can do is to develop new strains. Many scientists have achieved good resuhs in this field. For examaple, a kind of new strain of com invented by Ameri can scientists has already produced more grain and mused an enormous world increase in food production. It is certain that further research work should be done to produce higher yield.

土地資源

     我們正面臨著一個極為重要的問題，即人口快速增長對土地，或者說對土地資源所造成的壓力。因為土地資源是有限的，所以大多數人都認識到了問題的嚴重性。但是，我們不必為此悲觀。

     雖然土地一直是解決食品供給的主要資源，但是土地不是提供食物的惟一資源。我們有廣闊的海域等待著去開發。漁業在為人類提供食物方面起著越來越重要的作用。將來我們可以在海里養魚和種植物，并且收獲它們。

     另一解決辦法是開發新的物種。許多科學家在這個領域中已經取得了很好的成績。譬如美國科學家發明的一種玉米新品種，已經使糧食大大增產，并且使世界食品生產有顯著增長。為了生產更多的糧食，還要做進一步的研究工作。
