小年為中國傳統文化中的節日，由于各地風俗不同，被稱為小年的日子也不盡相同，中國民間有“官三民四船五”的傳統，官家的小年是臘月二十三，百姓家是臘月二十四，水上人家則是臘月二十五。它是中國整個農歷春節慶祝活動的開始和伏筆。下面小編為您帶來和小年相關的英文詞匯！
小年的風俗 Off-year customs
小年除了祭灶儀式外，前前后后還有許多風俗。如掃塵、貼對聯、剪窗花、洗浴婚嫁等。可以說“小年”是“大年”春節的序曲，在民間人們把這段時間稱之為“迎春日”。
掃塵 Spring Dust
為了迎接灶王爺，人們清除灶灰、掃墻，俗稱“掃塵”。按民間的說法：“塵”與“陳”諧音，掃塵有“除陳布新”的含義，其用意是要把一切“窮運”、“晦氣”統統掃地出門。這一習俗寄托著人們破舊立新的愿望和辭舊迎新的祈求。因此，到處洋溢著歡歡喜喜搞衛生、干干凈凈迎新春的氣氛。
貼“灶王爺”像 Stick the picture of The kitchen god
小年前夕，大街小巷的雜貨鋪、百貨攤都代賣“灶王爺”像。這種木版水印的神像，大多來自“版畫之鄉”——天津楊柳青。那和藹、肅穆、善靜的灶王爺盛裝端坐，給人以一家之主的感覺。人們都要“請”回來一幀新的灶王爺像(不能說“買”)，來代替陳舊不堪的灶王爺像。
寫對聯 Write couplets
家家戶戶都開始寫對聯。神靈前的對聯特別講究，多為敬仰和祈福之言。佛龕神像的兩側要貼上一副對聯，上聯寫“上天言好事”，下聯寫“下界保平安”或“回宮降吉祥”，橫幅是“一家之主”。因為緊靠春節春聯也一并寫成。民間講究有神必貼，每門必貼。內容豐富，妙語聯珠。
剪窗花 Cut window
所有準備工作中，剪貼窗花是最盛行的民俗活動。內容有各種動物、植物等，如喜鵲登梅，燕穿桃柳，孔雀戲牡丹 ，獅子滾繡球 ，三羊開泰，二龍戲珠，蓮年有魚，鴛鴦戲水等。
洗浴理發 Bath and hair
大人、小孩都要洗浴理發。民間有“有錢沒錢，剃頭過年”的說法
舉辦婚事 Marriage held
過了二十三，民間認為諸神上了天，百無禁忌。娶媳婦不用擇日子，稱為趕亂婚。直至年底，舉行結婚典禮的特別多。
經過小年的掃塵，處處煥然一新。新貼的春聯，抬頭見喜。活靈活現的門神，保佑著平安。精美的窗花、五彩的年畫和花團錦簇的燈籠，無不顯示著小年之后，人們喜氣洋洋開始迎接除夕過大年了。
