英語六級優(yōu)秀作文1

the art of living is to know when to hold fast and when to let go. for life is a parado: it enjoins us to cling to its many gifts even while it ordains their eventual relinquishment. the rabbis of old put it this way:" a man comes to this world with his fist clenched, but when he dies, his hand is open."

surely we ought to hold fast to life, for it is wondrous, and full of a beauty that breaks through every pore of god s own earth. we know that this is so, but all too often we recognize this truth only in our backward glance when we remember what was and then suddenly realize that it is no more.

we remember a beauty that faded, a love that waned. but we remember with far greater pain that we did not see that beauty when it flowered, that we failed to respond with love when it was tendered.

a recent eperience re-taught me this truth. i was hospitalized following a severe heart attack and had been in intensive care for several days. it was not a pleasant place.

one morning, i had to have some additional tests. the required machines were located in a building at the opposite end of the hospital, so i had to be wheeled across the courtyard on a gurney.

as we emerged from our unit, the sunlight hit me. thats all there was to my eperience. just the light of the sun. and yet how beautiful it was -- how warming, how sparking, how brilliant! i looked to see whether anyone else relished the suns golden glow, but everyone was hurrying to and fro, most with eyes fied on the ground. then i remembered how often i, too, had been indifferent to the grandeur of each day, too preoccupied with petty and sometimes even mean concerns to respond from that eperience is really as commonplace as was the eperience itself: lifes gifts are precious -- but we are too heedless of them.

here then is the first pole of lifes paradoical demands on us : never too busy for the wonder and the awe of life. be reverent before each dawning day. embrace each hour. seize each golden minute.

hold fast to life...but not so fast that you cannot let go. this is the second side of life s coin, the opposite pole of its parado: we must accept our losses, and learn how to let go.

this is not an easy lesson to learn, especially when we are young and think that the world is ours to command, that whatever we desire with the full force of our passionate being can, nay, will, be ours. but then life moves along to confront us with realities, and slowly but surely this truth dawns upon us.

at every stage of life we sustain losses -- and grow in the process. we begin our independent lives only when we emerge from the womb and lose its protective shelter. we enter a progression of schools, then we leave our mothers and fathers and our childhood homes. we get married and have children and then have to let them go. we confront the death of our parents and our spouses. we face the gradual or not so gradual waning of our strength. and ultimately, as the parable of the open and closed hand suggests, we must confront the inevitability of our own demise, losing ourselves as it were, all that we were or dreamed to be.

Thereis an old saying that people never judge a book from its cover. From my pointof view, this saying also applies to our attitudes towards others: never judgea person from their appearance. Because you never know one person’s true meritsif only judging from their appearance。

Itis true that an attractive appearance is of great significance not only fordaily life but also for the job. However, it is unwise to judge one person bythe appearance for the following reasons. On the one hand, with the advancementof science technology and medical level, people can transform their surface byall means. On the other hand, the appearance should not be the merely criteriafor judging an individual, considering that are more important factors, including Courteous, kind-hearted, honest and so on。

Inconclusion, it is unadvisable to judge a person by their appearance. That’s whyI assert that we should pay more attention to ones inward and place high valueon inner cultivation。

Why it is unwise to judge a person by appearance.

The famous saying “why it is unwise to judge a person by appearance” places a high value on the importance of the “inside”, showing the necessity of enhancing our awareness of the significance of the inside. The inside is, as a matter of fact, more important than the outside。

A case in point is college students. There is no denying in saying that without paying attention to our inside, we would not achieve anything great in our personal growth and academic studies. Therefore, we should not pay too much attention to our appearance. It is not too much to say that “the inside” plays an indispensable role in our life。

In order to enhance our awareness of the importance of the inside, it is necessary that we attach great importance to (the enhancement and improvement of our ability). From my perspective, the role played by real ability can never be overemphasized. And as college students, it is high time that we paid close attention to our ability and inside。

Why it is unwise to put all eggs in the basket.

The famous saying “why it is unwise to put all eggs in the basket”places a high value on the importance of considering matters from all aspects, showing the necessity of enhancing our awareness of the significance of thinking about things from many sides。

A case in point is our academic studies. There is no denying in saying that without learning all the necessary courses, we would not achieve anything great in our personal growth and academic studies. We must pay attention to all sides of our studies instead of focusing on just one or two subjects. It is not too much to say that considering matters from all aspects plays an indispensable role in our life。

In order to enhance our awareness of considering matters from all aspects, it is necessary that we attach great importance to (the ability of thinking about things from many sides ). From my perspective, the role played by this quality can never be overemphasized. And as college students, it is high time that we paid close attention to it。

As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of inpidual wellbeing. What factors contribute to job satisfaction? How realistic is the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers?

Nowadays many adults have full-time jobs and the proportion of their lives spent doing such jobs is very high. So feelings about one’s job must reflect how an inpidual feels about his or her life as a whole, and because of this, job satisfaction is indeed very important for the well-being of that person.

Employees get job satisfaction in a number of ways. Firstly, a person needs to feel that they are doing valued and valuable work, so positive feedback from superiors is very important in this respect. A sense of fulfillment is also encouraged if a worker feels the job is worth doing because it contributes to the society or the economy as a whole. Secondly, when someone feels they are improving or developing their skills through training opportunities, for example, then there is a sense of progression and purpose that rewards a worker. The sense of belonging to a team or a working community also contributes to job satisfaction because colleagues help each other to enjoy their working lives. Satisfaction is also increased by a sense of responsibility for and loyalty to a team.

Of course not everyone enjoys their work. Hard economic realities mean that many people have little choice in the kind of job they can get. In some cases an employee is working in a job that suits neither their skills nor their personality. Some jobs are repetitive and boring, and labour relations may be poor and lead to resentment and insecurity rather than to job satisfaction.

However, even though it is unlikely that all workers do feel happy in their work, I think it is not unrealistic to promote more job satisfaction in any job. If the factors identified above are implemented, then any job can be improved and more workers can feel greater degrees of job satisfaction.

long before the land reform law was promulgated on 30 june 1950, the ccp had been eperimenting with measures to return the land to the vast numbers of peasants. these eperiments, which had taken place wherever the party had been able to maintain a stronghold, including the jiangi soviet and yanan, had known various radical aspects, but boiled down to the abolishment of landownership by the landlord class and the introduction of peasant landownership. a new element that was introduced in 1950 was the provision that the development of agricultural production resulting from this would pave the way for the industrialization of china. as a result, many peasant households held the deed for their piece of land for the first time ever.

nationwide agicultural reforms took place from 1950 until the spring of 1953. in some places, the law was eecuted with more force than was called for, leading to the mistreatment of former landlords. in all, about one million of them were eecuted. although the poster above, published in 1952, boasts that land reform basically had been completed, this was only accomplished in 1953. in all, 700 million mu of land (1 mu is .0867 hectares) and various means of production were redistributed among 300 million peasants who had been landless before. only the areas inhabited by the minority nationalities had not been touched by the law yet.despite the centrality of land reform in the partys policies, publication data from 1949 indicate that less than two percent of the total poster production was devoted to typical rural topics, including methods to improve production. this suggests even more strongly the etent to which posters were intended to support other types of mobilizational techniques. it may also point to important shifts that emerged in the political agenda. shortly after the fields had been turned over to the tiller, preparations began to familiarize the peasantry with the net step in agricultural reform.before long, the land that had been handed out to the peasants was slowly returned to the state. in a process of collectivization that started in 1953, the farmers were first organized in so-called mutual help teams. these were gradually merged into lower agrarian cooperatives. during the great leap forward, these lower forms of cooperatives would be merged into huge peoples communes.

as a result of the collectivization of the countryside, certain amenities and services that had until then been reserved for city dwellers, now came within reach of the rural population. the "electrification of the countryside", in combination with the mechanization of agriculture, was among these. judging by the poster below, the availability of these amenities was apparently used to entice the people to join such collectives.
